ASEAN leaders agreed to work together on regional economy and security
On 23 June 2019 – At the 34th ASEAN Summit in Bangkok, leaders of all the ASEAN member states agreed to develop and connect ASEAN people further, bridge socio-economic gaps, be less dependent on other regions and use cooperative agreements to strengthen the region. Thailand’s Deputy Government Spokesman, Lt. Gen. Werachon Sukondhapatipak, said the 34th ASEAN Summit is being held in a cordial atmosphere, as the ASEAN leaders are familiar with one another and they have all agreed with the official theme of Thailand’s ASEAN Chairmanship of 2019, “Advancing Partnership for Sustainability”. The theme focuses on sustainability and promotes a people-centered ASEAN Community where no one is left behind.
