Monsoon Valley Vineyard was founded in 2003 by Khun Chalerm. He tried to grow grape in this area and that was a successful experiment. After that, he found a perfect place for planting a vineyard. He decided to make it in a huge valley, 700 RAI (110 hectares), located only 35km away from Hua Hin.
Petchburi was not assumed as a wine-growing region in Thailand.
And now the Monsoon Vineyard is a famous place and it is one of Top 10 Hua Hin Places. As for now, they are growing various kinds of grape. For example, Colombard and Chenin Blanc, Sangiovese, Rondo and Shiraz, Muscat, Dornfelder, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Sauvignon Blanc.
One more interesting thing is that the Valley is a home for some wild animals and plans. You can find there rabbits, different kinds of snakes, monkeys, various lizards, and wild chickens. Even fish and lobsters living in the local ponds.
As for the fauna, they grow banana, mango, papaya, olives, coffee, raspberries, baobab, roses, mulberry, and various Thai and Italian herbs.
What is more, Monsoon Valley Vineyard also participates in a project to preserve Hornbills. As part of this project, old wooden wine-barrels modifying and hung up high into trees to provide nesting sites for the birds. That is why you can see these barrels not only in Monsoon Valley Vineyard but in several locations throughout Thailand.
